Medstrom works closely with MAHECAS, a charity focused on providing medical equipment to clinics and hospitals in Malawi, by supporting and supplying their appeal for hospital beds and mattresses.
In 2019, 10 big sea containers carrying over 600 beds and 400 mattresses, left the UK heading to Nacala port and then onto Lilongwe, the Capital of Malawi. These were distributed to various hospitals across the country, including Bwaila – recorded as one of the busiest maternity units in Africa. 51 hospital beds were rehomed here, transforming the care these expectant mothers receive.
