MAHECAS donate to Mbulumbudzi Health Centre in Chiradzulu

Following a request from Mbulumbudzi Health Centre for assistance in procuring medical supplies and equipment, MAHECAS donated a range of equipment and supplies worth around 4.2 million Malawi Kwacha.

Receiving the donation, Dr Jameson Chausa who is the Chiradzulu District Health Officer said lack of medical equipment and suppliers especially in the maternity wing was contributing to high mortality rates. Dr Chausa also said the transport equipment donated to the Health Centre will help to minimise cost of patient transportation from and to surrounding areas. Statistics shows that the Health Centre treats around 18,000 patients’ a year from the surrounding areas.

Making the donation on behalf of MAHECAS, Mr Lawrence Gogodus said that the donation will assist the Health Centre provide high quality health care services to patients. The equipment and supplies donated include bicycle ambulances, hospital beds and mattresses, baby weighing scales and basins, bathroom adult weighing scales, stethoscopes, and others.
