For a very long time guardians looking after patients at the hospital had nowhere to rest or prepare food so that they can better look after their patients.

In June 2015, MAHECAS completed the building of a guarding Shelter for the Mulanje Hospital. Handing over the building, the Chairperson for MAHECAS, Dr Milika Matiti thanked all individuals and organisations that had contributed to the construction of the building.
